GREENSBORO, NC – The Pallas Foundation is proud to introduce an innovative scholarship program tailored for students participating in North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University’s Center for Excellence in Cybersecurity Research, Education, and Outreach. This initiative is designed to not only provide financial support but also to cultivate the growth of aspiring leaders within the realm of cybersecurity research. By investing in the education and development of these students, the Foundation aims to empower the next generation of professionals, playing a pivotal role in addressing dynamic challenges in the field of national security.
As part of the initiative, the Pallas Foundation's Adm. Mike Mullen Scholarship for National Security Leadership will grant scholarships to four students, enabling them to pursue their cyber security studies at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
The scholarship is named for Adm. Mike Mullen, who served as the 17th Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff for both President Bush and President Obama, from 2007 to 2011 and also as the 28th Chief of Naval Operations from 2005 to 2007. Adm. Mullen, a 1968 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, was deeply involved in mentoring and promoting officers from diverse backgrounds to help them achieve the highest ranks in the military.
"We're excited to announce the expansion of our collaboration with Adm. Mullen to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University," expressed Sue Gordon, former Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence and President of the Pallas Foundation. "The scholarship's emphasis on students dedicated to advancing cybersecurity research is crucial in addressing the ever-evolving landscape of digital challenges and opportunities.”
In pursuit of furthering the Foundation’s mission of “fostering the professional development of emerging leaders in national security from traditionally underrepresented groups”, scholarship recipients are invited to attend leadership development events hosted by the Pallas Foundation.
"We proudly recognize and congratulate the exceptional scholars who have earned Adm. Mullen’s scholarship as participants in North Carolina A&T's Center for Excellence in Cybersecurity Research, Education, and Outreach. By supporting these scholars, we invest in the guardians of our digital future, fostering innovation, and fortifying the foundations of a secure and resilient society. As we celebrate their achievements, we also underscore the societal importance of cybersecurity research, recognizing its role in shaping a safer, more secure, and interconnected world for generations to come.” Hossein Sarrafzadeh, Director, Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity Research, Education, and Outreach.
