Pallas Foundation Appoints Essye Miller to Foundation Board

October 24, 2023

Washington, DC — The Pallas Foundation for National Security Leadership is excited to announce that Essye Miller, the former Principal Deputy Chief Information Officer and Acting Defense Chief Information Officer, is joining the Board of Directors. Ms. Miller is now an advisor to emerging technology companies, and in the past has held several leadership positions, such as the Director of Information Management and the CIO at Air Force Headquarters, and as the Director of Cybersecurity for the Army Chief Information Officer.

Ms. Miller began her career as an Information Technology Specialist at Gunter Air Force Base, and since then has grown her leadership roles and technical knowledge. She was responsible for a number of critical initiatives, such as ensuring that the DoD CIO has a well-defined cybersecurity program, and coordinating cybersecurity standards, policies, and procedures across the government. She was awarded the Presidential Rank Award as a meritorious recipient in 2018, an award that goes to members of the Senior Executive Service for exceptional service over their careers.

“The mission of Pallas Foundation strongly resonates with me,” said Ms. Miller, “I am looking forward to supporting the Foundation’s efforts in increasing diversity of thought across the national security ecosystem, and strengthening our nation’s technology talent base”

Over the course of her four-decade long career in public service, Ms. Miller has held leadership positions across the DoD, and has a proven track record of both technological expertise and management. We are excited to benefit from all of the knowledge and experience she brings to the Foundation from her time in the private sector as well as in government. Given the Foundation’s focus on bringing diverse talent into national security, we are looking forward to hearing her perspectives and understanding of technology, and how to support the talent that creates these technologies.

“We are delighted to welcome Essye to the Pallas Foundation Board,” said Sally Donnelly, one of the Founding Directors of the Pallas Foundation. “She is an accomplished leader in the government as well as industry, and fully understands the need for talent across the innovation ecosystem. We are looking forward to the wealth of knowledge she will bring to the Foundation.”
